Student Support & Policies

Welfare and Wellbeing

Students are always welcome to discuss concerns with the CDT Directors, Deputy Directors, CDT Managers or Cohort Mentors at any time. Each partner institution also provides extensive welfare and wellbeing resources listed below.

Remember: You do not need to be in crisis to seek support. All services below are available to any student who would benefit from a conversation — whether about academic pressure, personal circumstances, or simply settling into PhD life.

    Complaints and Disciplinary Policies

We are committed to helping you have the highest quality experience while undertaking your PhD as part of the MFC CDT.  However, we understand that sometimes things go wrong.  We would always encourage you to attempt to resolve issues informally if possible but, for when this isn’t feasible, each partner institution has its own formal procedures for student conduct, academic appeals and complaints.  Please refer to the home pages for your home institution.

    Code of Conduct

As members of the MFC CDT, all staff and students are expected to adhere to the Code of Conduct set by their respective institutions. These guidelines ensure a safe, respectful, and inclusive environment for everyone. Below, you will find links to the Code of Conduct pages for Imperial College London, the University of Reading, and the University of Southampton.

If you have any concerns or require support, please contact your institution’s student support services or reach out to your institution’s CDT team .
